Submit Your Work to The WhistleTree Project

A Literary Journal Where Stories Are Meant to Be Heard

Submission Guidelines

The WhistleTree Project is a literary journal with audio—a place where stories aren’t just published, they’re read out loud and shared widely. Selected pieces are performed on our YouTube channel and featured on TikTok, making literature more accessible, joyful, and alive for readers and listeners everywhere.

We publish fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry that feels alive, human, and unforgettable. We’re here for bold voices, quiet truths, weird little gems, and stories that might not fit in other places. Send us your best. Whether you’re an emerging writer or a seasoned storyteller, we love new voices, underdog perspectives, and beautifully crafted work.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Flash Fiction or Flash Creative Nonfiction
    Up to 800 words

  • Fiction or Creative Nonfiction
    Up to 3,000 words

  • Poetry
Up to 3 poems or 6 pages total

What We’re Not Looking For:

  • Anything generated by AI

  • Previously published work (unless invited)

  • Work that is intentionally unkind, mocking, or written to harm — we love bold writing, but not mean writing.

How to Submit:

Please use our submission form. Choose your tier (Standard, Expedited, or Feedback). Pay the small submission fee (so we can keep our lights on)

Fill out the submission form and upload your piece as a PDF or DOCX.

Attach your work as a .doc, .docx, or PDF. Include a short third-person bio (50–75 words) and any relevant publication history.

Multiple and simultaneous submissions are welcome; just let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere.
